Officially, BPO/Shared Services is responsible for more than 7% of Philippine GDP, employing 1.5 million highly-paid Filipino professionals. Unofficially another 1.5 million Filipino freelancers work directly for international clients and report incomes growing by 35%. Many employees are leaving to work as freelancers and it’s driving industry leaders crazy because they spend so much training them. But, many freelancers are eager to move to formal employment because they want companionship, career development and employee benefits.
Another big issues is the work-from-home model. It seems to be unwinding as people want to get back to the office — but do they really? How will it all turn out? Who knows?!!!
